Friends of teenage ecstasy victim are shown his body to warn them off drugs

Tragic: Lee Kelly, 19, died after taking ecstasy at a club night on New Year's Eve
Friends of a teenage ecstasy victim were shown his dying body by his grieving family in a bid to warn them off drugs .
Lee Kelly, 19, collapsed at a nightclub on New Year's Eve and died in hospital two days later.
Shortly
before switching his life support machine off, the business student's
family invited his friends to come and see him one last time.
Lee's grandfather Eddy, 71, said the shocked teenagers were "inconsolable" when they saw Lee slipping away.
Eddy said: "His friends were sobbing.

"I was telling them 'this could have been you - this is what drugs can do'.
"I asked them why they would risk doing this to themselves and they broke down in tears.
"You could tell they were heartbroken."
And
shortly after the life support machine was switched off, a second group
of friends who'd been staging a vigil at Glasgow Royal Infirmary were
shown in to see the body.
Lee's mother Vivien, 46, said of the decision to show Lee's body to his friends: "We don't want any more ruined lives." Read more:

Meanwhile, devastated teenagers have paid tribute to Lee, who lived with his mother in Glasgow's Croftfoot area.

Kelly-Anne Crockwell said: "RIP Lee, you gained your wings early was a
pleasure knowing you and I'm sure you will touch everyone's hearts up
there like you did down here."
Sarah Hampton posted: "Rest in
peace bro no more random walks to the shop for the fun of it and no mad
weekends, actually can't believe you're gone, love you angel."

Harkins said: "Rest in peace mate, was a pleasure knowing someone that
lived their life to the full although you had so much more to live, rest

believe what I've just read, RIP Lee you were an amazing boy, thinking

Partying: The 19-year-old had spent the evening at the O2 Academy in Glasgow before falling ill
Lee was with a group of revellers at Glasgow's O2 Academy venue before becoming ill.
Vivien said: "He had never done drugs in his life but the doctors told us he had taken MDMA.
"We don't know why he decided to take it.
"It was a one-off."
