Meet the man who says he brought Nollywood actress Genevieve Nnaji into the spotlight. His name is Emeka Ojukwu Torino, self-acclaimed first Nollywood producer to venture into mobile marketing.
Emeka came out recently to solicit funds for his ailing colleague Prince Uche and in a new interview with Dupe Ayinla Olasunkanmi of TheNation revealed that Prince Uche’s wife had left him.. Read excerpts below.

You no longer act; how have you been surviving?
I have been producing since 1996. I work basically with some of the top producers and marketers in the industry. I also work with Africa Magic; they bring movies for me to produce. I am also into marketing. I am the first Nollywood actor that went into mobile marketing.
That part started some years back; having people come in contact to get their movies one on one from the producer at a subsidised rate. This happened about two to three years ago, I was the initiator of that idea; selling movies on the street.

In one week, I can boldly tell you that I sell up to 10, 000 movies. So I am still in the game, and that I can say is my first love.

Do you believe that age is one of the factors in ending one’s passion?
I don’t think age is a factor. As an actor, I can fit into any role even at an older age. But it is just that most of these our productions are done in the east, which is not so good with the age. But professionally, age should not be a hindrance to getting roles. Also, the producers do not know us as pioneers, making them offer us fees that are not worth our skills.

What do you mean by fee not worth the skills you offer?
These people do not look at what we have done for the industry and also the people we have brought in and trained that have taken the name of the industry far beyond our country. They offer fee like N30, 000.

As I am speaking to you now, I am the man behind Genevieve Nnaji. I brought her into the industry, when we were doing the movie Most Wanted. Then we had the likes of these Yoruba actors like Funsho Adeolu, Femi Brainard, Tunde Coker and the rest. Also, Prince James Uche got the role for the movie Mega Fortunes; that role was meant for Jide Kosoko, but he was busy.

Is forming a team to save Prince James a way of gaining prominence back to the mainstream?
This sickness that is just known to the world started since 2008. But because we have been very close and been with each other for a long time; with the help of some of my colleagues, we have been managing the sickness.
So having a team is just to help raise what is needed to save Prince’s life. What we plan is to help bring back his family after the surgery is done, and he is fit to come back home.
What do you mean bring his family together?
The plan is to first raise the fund needed for the surgery. Then get him a two-bedroom apartment and bring back his wife who is no longer with him.
Are you saying she left because of his sickness?
No, see, I am the right person to tell you the truth. They have been having issues before the sickness started. It has to do with his work. You know, a man leaving home for weeks and months. That was the issue.

“Small Doctor is an ingrate, Learn from my mistake” – DJ real writes open letter

Rising street pop artise Small Doctor has been slammed and shown the exit door by his music label CEO, DJ Real who feels betrayed after turning the singer from an okada rider to a star only to get disrespected.
According to an open letter DJ Real shared on his IG page, problem started when small Doctor began experiencing main stream acceptance and recognition and started ignoring his management “Real Beat Planet” who nurtured his career.
Small Doctor reportedly started performing shows without informing DJ Real or getting approval from the “Real Beat Planet” management and all efforts to correct this abnormally fell on deaf ears.

DJ Real now regrets investing so much in Small Doctor without a contract and wants every street DJ to learn from his mistake.
His open letter reads:

They Never Knew What I Was Going Thru Within Myself, Cos The So Called Artist Is A self-centered And Stingy That He Find It Hard To Settle Me On Any Shows He Get, Which I Never Ask Him Again After Series Of Meeting And No Result.

Commercial sex workers at De Love Hotel on Ilufumi Street in Ejigbo area of Lagos have fled, following the killing of their colleague by a customer, who accused her of not satisfying him for the N500 service he paid for.
Vanguard gathered that a customer had singled out one of the commercial sex workers, Janet Etim, from her colleagues, Tuesday night.
After agreeing on N500 fee for a short time fun, late Etim, who hailed from Oron, Akwa Ibom State, led the customer to her apartment in the hotel. Trouble, however, reportedly started when the customer, who said he was not satisfied, continued the romp in spite of Etim’s resistance.
She reportedly stood up and returned the N500 to the customer, asking him to go elsewhere. A colleague narrates the incident One of the commercial sex workers, Mercy, who spoke with Vanguard, explained that

“Janet had decided to withdraw when she noticed that the yeye man was on drugs and it was taking very long for him to finish the N500 service. “But he refused to leave. He said he had prepared for the show and must conclude it before leaving. This led to a quarrel and in the process he attacked her and injured her in the head. “We all rushed out when we heard her shouting. When we got inside, we saw her bleeding from the head. She was rushed to the hospital where she died.”

The founder of Mountain of Blessing and Miracle Church of Christ, Dr. Olagorioye Faleyimu, in December 2016 made shocking prophecies for 2017.
Among the prophecies was that Nollywood actress Funke Akindele needs serious prayers in order to have children.
In a new interview with Encomium, the prophet says he has no regrets over his prophecy despite the backlash he got from many Nigerians.
According to him, he is an anointed prophet whose calling is to deliver message as sent by God and move on. That he has been cursed by people in the past over prophecies he made but at the end of it all, all he said will come to pass.

Recently, social media was agog with your prophecy over star actress Funke Akindele which you said if she’s not very prayerful, she may not have a child and this has attracted a lot of condemnation within and outside the entertainment industry. What do you have t say about this?
Yes, it’s God that revealed to me that she’s destined to be famous and wealthy but no child. But if she’s very prayerful, she will eventually break the yoke of barrenness and become a mother. And that same message has also been repeated.
Even, if she doesn’t seek the face of God, her enemies don’t want her to have a stable home despite the fact that she has remarried. That means the marriage can still crash unless she’s prayerful.

God has also repeated it this year, that for her to have a child, she needs to be closer to God. People are now attacking me here and there that why did I say that? Some said I should have written a letter to her or invited her privately instead of making it public. But I am not a kind of prophet that predicts because of money.
I am an anointed prophet. My calling is to deliver message as sent by God. But some people don’t know the difference between prophets and anointed ones. It’s in the Bible and Qur’an how the prophets of God operate.
They’re not prophets of nowadays that only came to collect money from the government, high and mighty in the society and others.
As a prophet, deliver God’s message and move on. You don’t need to be on anybody’s neck.
I read in one of these Yoruba magazines that Funke Akindele is waging spiritual war against me because of the prophecy; nothing can happen to … God didn’t send me. I don’t regret on what I said. All she needs is to pray very well, I have nothing against her.
I am 40 years as a prophet. That means I have been predicting since 40 years ago and I have never regretted any of my prophecies. I am used to all these criticisms about my prophecies. Even, at times, some would curse me but at the end of it all, all I said will come to pass.

When I revealed what God told me about TB Joshua, some people commented that I wanted to collect money from him, but I think everybody saw it when he escaped death in 2014. Some were saying TB Joshua was supposed to have seen it before it happened.
I am a farmer and I am contented. But my calling is to deliver God’s message to His people and I shouldn’t be afraid of anybody irrespective of his or her position.
In 2009, when God sent me to theatre practitioners that 25 of them would die, unless they pray, they called me fraudster, claiming I wanted to use the prophecy to extort them. But when it happened most of them said they would sue me. They called me fake prophet, but the death didn’t stop until they were 25.

Some said before election in 2015 that Buhari can never rule Nigeria again but Buhari is ruling now which I had earlier predicted.
