Celeb Police earlier reported the alleged crashed marriage of popular Yoruba actress, Mide Martins and her producer/actor husband, Afeez Owo, on grounds of infidelity, especially on the part of the wife who has been accused of abandoning her matrimonial home for that of popular socialite, MC Oluomo with whom she is allegedly having an affair and a real estate mogul, Taiwo Kadiri, who made her brand ambassador of Katawa Properties.

With the promise to bring you perspectives from the parties involved, Celeb Police had an exclusive interview with Mide Martins, who has debunked rumours that she moved out of her matrimonial home, stating clearly that the reverse is actually the case. According to her “People believe that I have moved out of my husband’s house, but up till this moment, I am still in my matrimonial home. Afeez Owo was the one who moved out of the house three months ago leaving me with five children to cater for. Two of whom are our biological children, the other two, cousins and one house help”.

The actress who spoke in an emotion-laden tone, said that she has been alone for the survival of the kids with the help of God and she has been working hard to ensure that everyone survives. While she is aggrieved at the manner in which her husband suddenly came up with these false allegations, she believes that he was advised by people with malicious intentions to attack her first, probably because she has not said a word since he left home and they were scared that her silence could be dangerous.

Mide Martins expressed displeasure at the way people were quick to label her the bad one without trying to find out the truth. According to her, “People judge us by our appearances and it is really not fair. My husband has a very innocent look and I have a very flashy look and it is really not fair to judge the book by its cover because things are actually the other way round. I have been Afeez Owo’s shadow for the past 13 years, I have never said anything bad about him, but that does not mean he has been perfect.”

In responding to the allegations of infidelity, the actress who seemed familiar with such trend said “Let me tell you the truth, my husband is a completely jealous man, and his case is that of inferiority complex. He fights with me anytime he sees me with even a newborn baby boy, he even accused me of sleeping with Pasuma because Pasuma was a major character in my last movie ‘Abike’. He also accused me of sleeping with the marketer of the movie and his own boys, but I don’t have any skeleton in my cupboard. They are all lies.”

She added further: “People know me as a workaholic, if I sleep around, I don’t have to work this much, women that work so much don’t have time for men.”

When asked why her husband moved out of the house, she had this to say, “For him to have moved to a different apartment, he must have his reasons. I know his reasons, but I will not tell anybody. I know so many of his shady deals but I have never said anything about him, I know that if I decide to say things about him it could lead to the end of his career and more.”

Olumide Oladipupo talks to Business Day in this exclusive interview...

When I paint I try to show people the beautiful colours of life. I always try to show my audience that life is beautiful. I believe you could look at a painting and be healed from a sickness. Just staring at a lovely landscape or garden painting can ease the mind and ultimately the body. I am simply trying to radiate positivity through my paintings.”

This striking quote from Olumide Oladipupo, CEO of image zoo arts and visual artist extraordinaire gave me the chills. It actually made me realise that so many things in life are taken for granted and not much appreciation is given to the beauty God has given us as a world.

The talented visual artist who has been drawing and painting as far back as when he was in junior high school said he first painted on canvas in 2015 at an art class in Houston, Texas USA, where  he got an overwhelming reception from other artists. 

“There was something about the painting that caught the attention of everyone who saw it.  I always knew I had it in me but that was the moment I realised I wanted the world to see my work,” he said.

So I decided to take a step back and allow my mind to explore our beautiful world through the eyes of an artist as I had a chart with Olumide who has numerous art works displayed at different exhibitions, Facebook, Instagram, konga.com the online shopping mall and on his website www.imagezooart.ng.

Walking into his art room, which lit up with vibrant, eye catching, colourful paintings, brought to my memory the popular hymn ‘all things bright and beautiful… the Lord God made them all’. Little wonder why Olumide says he gets his inspiration to draw and paint from everything around him.

“I could be watching a movie, listening to music or just looking out of my window and something tells me to get my brush and paint and after thinking about it as a finished product, I begin to see a concluded masterpiece, then I start getting excited,” he said when asked where he got his inspiration to paint from.

The artist who looks up to the historic Vincent Van Gogh as his role model says

“Van Gogh’s story was so touching to me and he made thousands of beautiful paintings while he was alive, he only sold one in his lifetime, but after his death, he started gaining recognition and his artworks sold at auctions for millions of pounds. I like him because he painted things around him and I find myself doing the same thing. I try to travel as much as I can and I take my camera everywhere with me so I can take pictures of inspiring sights and scenes.”

As I watched Olumide speak so passionately about art, I could tell that it was in-born and that the young fellow remains hopeful to the acceptance of art in Nigeria. To him, his effortless work of art is a gift from God and nothing can take it from him. However, he acknowledged that interest and talent is not enough as he has improved enormously having learnt new techniques from the internet, art classes and painting with kids at schools.

“I don’t think art work is dying in Nigeria, it has just begun with emerging artists like me and some others trying to come up the ladder. We are just getting started, there are too many talented people in Nigeria, but there aren’t enough platforms to show their work. If you take it serious you will earn more than white collar jobs. I feel people should respect artists for their time and effort. I have just started my career and I have sold over 100 pieces.”

“Everyone is my target audience, children, teenagers, adults, old people, black or white. I want to be able to relate with everyone. Some people don’t even like art but they buy it to fill up spaces in their house, office, and hotel or to beautify their surroundings. I will keep putting my work in their faces on social Media networks, exhibitions and art lessons.

“I see my signature in thousands of houses all over the world. My goal is to showcase art to a global audience so the world can see how blessed we are as a nation,” he added.

Reacting to how well Nigerian’s accept and appreciate paintings; Olumide said people appreciate art and it is accepted in Nigeria but only a few people understand it. If you can get a loan from the bank with a piece of art then I think that is acceptance.”

I insisted that the young, vibrant but quiet artist give words of encouragement to others who aspire to showcase their talent in drawing and painted and here is what he had to say;

“I will like other artists to keep on working hard, they should present their artworks in better ways to their audience, package them well and they will get more attention. Even if you have never sold keep on painting, you never can tell who will be interested in buying them all.”

As Olumide gave me some history lessons on art, its value, the meaning and importance, I couldn’t help but appreciate his God given talent and needless to say what joy it was to watch nature and life depicted through talented hands.

Fayose hails US govt, UK Telegraph reports on Buhari's witch-hunt of opposition, calls for investigation

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has hailed the international community, especially the United States of America and the United Kingdom for joining lovers of democracy in Nigeria to speak out against the All Progressives Congress (APC) government of President Buhari's use of State security apparatus to oppress opposition.

He called on the British Government to investigate the allegation of the use of British foreign aid given to Nigeria to help combat Boko Haram terrorists to fund a witch-hunt against opposition politicians with a view to preventing continuous use of fund belonging to the country wrongly. Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Governor Fayose said the international community must focus attention on Nigeria under President Buhari, saying; "rights of Nigerians are now being trampled upon with impunity."

In its report, the United States Department of States, accused the Nigerian police, DSS and the military of gross abuse of power which include citizens brutality, arbitrary detention,bribery among other scandals Also, the United Kingdom based Telegraph newspaper published this week that hundreds of millions of pounds of British foreign aid given to Nigeria to help combat Boko Haram terrorists was instead being used to fund a witch-hunt against opposition politicians.

Governor Fayose, who is presently in Guangzhou, China to attend the 119th China Import and Export Fair otherwise known as the Canton Fair between April 14 and 19, said the United Kingdom Telegraph newspaper was right in its report that the Buhari’s government was using British aid money to target his political opponents, particularly through anti corruption agencies ans the Department of State Services (DSS).

He said only the international community could help prevail on President Buhari to respect the rule of law and stop ruling Nigeria like a military dictator. The governor described the United States Department of States report as another vindication of his position on the Buhari-led government's abuse of the rights of Nigerians, saying; "everything I predicted about Buhari is coming to pass and the international community must assist the country to sustain democracy."

Rihanna Announces ‘Fenty Beauty’ Makeup Line

Barbadian singer and work hitmaker, Rihanna’s empire is expanding to include a complete makeup collection.
The line, called ‘Fenty Beauty by Rihanna,’ comes in collaboration with the Kendo division of LVMH and is set to arrive Fall 2017.
It’s estimated that LVMH paid as much as $10 million to make the deal.

Kendo, which functions as an incubator producing products that end up being retailed by LVMH’s Sephora perfumery chain and other outposts, will launch a Rihanna makeup range, called Fenty Beauty by Rihanna, in the fall of 2017.
While the company provided no other details, David Suliteanu, chief executive officer of Kendo, was in a celebratory mood. “Fenty Beauty by Rihanna is a beauty rocket ship that will appeal to a huge and diverse global audience,” he said. “We are aiming for the stars.”
That is exactly where the Rihanna brand tends to orbit. As an entertainer, the 28-year-old singer is the youngest solo artist to have 14 number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and she has spent 58 weeks on the top of the chart. So far, Rihanna has sold more than 54 million albums and 215 million singles worldwide. Her tally of awards includes eight Grammys, 12 Billboard Music Awards and nine American Music Awards. Her latest album, “Anti,” was released in January to strong sales.
As far as image goes, Rihanna received a Fashion Icon Award from CFDA in 2014.
“Kendo is honored to work with Rihanna,” Suliteanu concluded.
She previously has collaborated in 2013 with MAC Cosmetics on a four-part, limited-edition RiRi Hearts MAC color cosmetics collection, and she also represented Viva Glam lipstick in 2014 to raise funds for AIDS research.
She has produced seven fragrances for Parlux Ltd. and the relationship continues. The latest one, RiRi, was launched in fall 2015. During a promotional appearance at Macy’s in Brooklyn, the star raised $46,000 in an afternoon. Although the celebrity fragrance category is decidedly on the wane, Rihanna’s star seems to burn brighter than ever. Industry sources estimate that Rihanna’s Parlux fragrances, as a group, generate about $75 million in wholesale net shipments. In addition to the U.S., her fragrance business is said to be particularly strong in the U.K. and Europe.
“Our Rihanna business continues to flourish,” said Diana Espino, global vice president of marketing and brand development. Adding that Rihanna remains on top of the celebrity heap, Espino said the reason is because “what she produces has the authenticity of a fashion icon and an entertainment trendsetter. She is really a developer,” she noted, that in an era of social media transparency, “the consumer knows it.”
The Rihanna makeup brand will be the third major color cosmetics project that Kendo has undertaken, following those by Kat Von D Beauty and Marc Jacobs Beauty.
Kendo has given Rihanna the opportunity to play a key role in the development of her brand and the longevity of a long-term relationship. The company also offers a deep bench of development talent and a global reach in distribution. In markets where there are no Sephora stores, other, suitable retailers will be found.

Linda Ikeji Reports Wizkid To The Lagos State Commisioner of Police

Linda Ikeji has reported Wizkid to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police Owoseni Fatai, over the threats he made during their heated social media beef.
Recall a few weeks ago when Wizkid & Linda Ikeji traded words, wizzy threatened to have her physically assualted, writing on social media..

That is a threat, which Linda Ikeji isn’t taken lightly.
According to The NET, the controversial blogger has reported the threat to the Lagos State commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni & a summon has been issued to Wizkid to appear at the Police Command for questioning.
The summons letter was sent to his manager Sunday Are’s office in Surulere but the pop star failed to show up.
We aren’t sure how far this case will go, but one thing we know is that Section 323 of the criminal code states that,

Any person who, knowing the contents thereof directly or indirectly causes any person to receive any writing threatening to kill any person is guilty of a felony, and is liable to imprisonment for 7 years

Meaning Wizzy could face 7 years imprisonment…

Yemi Alade Fans Go In On Popstar For Not Appreciating A Fan’s Depiction Of Her

Celebrities receive all sorts of drawings, paintings and graphic designs of themselves on the regular from fans, and while some of these fans impressively create spot-on images of their favourite celebs, others just fail woefully.
Yemi Alade‘s fans are going in on her after she shared some fan art on her Instagram  page.
The fan tried to recreate the original photo of the pop star in their drawing but was unable to get her exact likeness.
The singer reposted the picture on her page and captioned it,

But her fans are going in on her, saying that she wasn’t appreciative of the artist’s effort and was rude for making a joke out of it.

Just like Drake did to Rihanna, Wizkid might be preparing to write a letter or a long essay to thank Drake soon.

Company Invents Mattress That Can Tell You If Your Spouse Is Cheating or Having An Affair

From helping to relieve backache to regulating temperatures between the sheets and helping to prevent snoring, mattresses have become seriously high-tech these days. Now they can even help detect if a partner is cheating.
Costing £1,200, the Spanish-designed ‘smartress’ allows mistrusting spouses who are away from home to check their smartphones to find out if the mattress is in use and how many people are on it.
The high-tech bed, which can be purchased with ‘upmost confidentiality’ and comes with a five year warranty, uses 24 ultrasonic sensors to detect ‘suspicious activity’, alerting the owner via a mobile app.
Its ‘Lover Detection System’ generates a 3D map to show which areas are receiving greater pressure and what movement is taking place, all in ‘real time’.
Described by developers as ‘foolproof’, the electronic genius behind the system is said to be undetectable as it is integrated within the mattress’s springs.
Jose Antonio Muinos, spokesman for makers Durmet, said: ‘We came up with the idea after we saw the figures on infidelity that said Spaniards were the most unfaithful in Europe.
‘It is a concept that will bring peace of mind to men and women, not just during the night but also during the day while they are out at work and the bed should really be being used.
‘On the outside it is just a normal looking and very comfortable mattress, but inside hides some cutting-edge technology.
‘We think the mattress will do well internationally because it is the only one in the world that uses this technology and is designed specifically for the objective of catching cheating partners.’
According to extramarital affairs website Ashley Madison, Madrid has the highest rate of cheating
spouses, closely followed by London.
The ‘smartress’ is not the first tool designed to catch lovecheats. The app mCouple was launched last year, which enables users to track almost every detail of their partner’s life.
Users are given access to every phone call, text and email, and any activity on Skype or Facebook, as well as pictures and videos taken on their mobile.
People can even record their partner’s mobile phone conversations – and track their movements using GPS technology.
The app was created by London-based firm mSpy, which stressed that users must gain consent before downloading the device on to their partner’s phone.
A similar app, Couple Tracker, costs just 79p and sells itself as ‘the best affair and cheating prevention and detection mobile application’. With more than five million downloads, the app includes GPS-tracking every half hour, full call history and a statistical overview of everyone commenting and liking their partner’s Facebook posts.
