Katie Wimbush-Polk, the mother of rapper Wiz Khalifa has filed a defamation suit against her son’s ex-wife, Amber Rose.
The law suit follows an alleged profanity-laced phone call to a third party by Amber Rose, in which she launched a tirade against her former mother-in-law and grandmother of the celebrity couple’s son.
According to the Washington County Observer-Reporter, an attorney for Wiz Khalifa’s mother, claimed that Amber Rose “impute(d) criminality,” which is “incompatible with her status as a grandmother and her status as a volunteer mentoring at-risk youth,” which require adults to have cleared background checks.
Amber Rose allegedly made the call on June 19 to a phone linked to Wimbush-Polk’s account. The person who had the phone that day was a friend and former employee, Danesa Letic, who was in Louisiana, the suit claims.
Letic’s 5-year-old niece actually answered the call, and the suit claimed that Amber Rose immediately “launched into a profane attack.” The niece gave the phone to her aunt, who eventually was able to identify herself.
According to the suit, even after knowing she was speaking with a third party, the caller alleged Wimbush-Polk had allowed her own child, Dorien, to die and she was unfit to visit or care for Levonchuck’s and Khalifa’s 4-year-old son, Sebastian.
Khalifa’s sibling, Dorien Thomaz, died Feb. 20, 2017, of complications from lymphoma.
In the suit which was filed on July 3, Wimbush-Polk claimed that Amber Rose’s statements were malicious, “tended to harm” her reputation, lowered her in the estimation of the community or deterred others from associating or dealing with her, and disputes the claim she had let Dorien Thomaz die caused her to be humiliated and suffer severe mental anguish.
Wimbush-Polk asked for damages of more than $50,000, including court costs, interest, punitive and other damages.

Charles Oputa, a.k.a Charly Boy, has said that he was brutalised during
the protest organised on Tuesday at the Unity Fountain in Abuja by a
coalition of civil society organisations acting under the aegis of
‘Concerned Nigerians’.
Oputa, in a telephone interview with our
correspondent, said that one of the anti-riot policemen, who attacked
the protesters with tear-gas and water cannons, hit him in the eye with
the butt of his rifle.
He said, “We were not even up to 10
people that set out for the Unity Fountain. When we got there, we met
close to 200 policemen. Initially they tried to stop us from going
further. But we explained to them that ours would be a peaceful
demonstration. I gave them the assurance that we were not going to
anywhere else and the protest would not be hijacked by hoodlums.
“Before we knew it, they started with
the water cannon. Then they tear-gassed us and set their dogs against
us. Worried, I went to one of the policemen who was standing near me and
asked him why they resorted to such action. Instead of responding to
me, he suddenly raised the butt of his gun and hit me in the eye.”
Oputa said he was immediately rushed to a
clinic for treatment. But he expressed concern over the health of
another victim, a TV journalist, said to be severely beaten up by the
police.
“I saw them beating up that man and smashing his camera. I hope they have not killed him,” he said.
However, the self-styled ‘Area Father’
vowed to continue with the protest, in spite of the attack. “We are
coming out tomorrow. It is better they kill me now because I will never
stop speaking for the masses of this country,” he said.

Tiger Woods pleads not guilty to DUI charges, to enter Diversion Program
The 41-year-old was charged with driving under the influence in May when he was found asleep in his Mercedes-Benz, apparently under the influence of a prescription painkiller and sleeping medication. However, no alcohol was found in his system.

was arraigned in absentia at the Palm Beach County courthouse.
Prosecutor Adrienne Ellis said the golf superstar agreed to plead guilty
at an October 25 hearing and enter the county's programme for
first-time DUI offenders.Woods' attorney, Douglas Duncan, entered a not guilty plea to the DUI charge on Woods' behalf and declined comment as he left the courthouse.
Under the plea deal, prosecutors would drop the DUI charge, which is a more severe charge than reckless driving. If he completes the programme, he can ask a judge to expunge the reckless driving conviction.
In the diversion programme, Woods will spend a year on probation, pay a US$250 fine and court costs, attend DUI school and perform 50 hours of community service. He would also have to attend a workshop where victims of impaired drivers detail how their lives were damaged and face other conditions.

Chief Medical Director at LUTH, Prof Chris Bode also confirmed that at least 100 hospital workers exposed to the index case are currently being monitored.
Today, the governing body of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) held a press conference where they said there is no cause for panic over the recent Lassa fever outbreak in the state.
Professor Bode assured the residents of the state to remain calm as all contacts are being monitored and have not shown signs of infection. He added that all those who are being monitored have been given a thermometer to check their temperature twice daily and report any temperature spike.
According to the Chief Medical Director, the three patients who tested positive are responding to treatment but never came down with symptoms. He further urged Lagosians to keep their surroundings clean and their houses rat free as much as possible, as well as to cover cooked and uncooked food properly.

A 23-year old bag snatcher was apprehended on Friday in Alagbado during a botched robbery operation by the men of the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command yesterday. They also recovered an AK-47 assault rifle from three young men in Apapa Area of Lagos.
It was gathered that the operatives, who were on routine patrol of Apapa sighted three young men carrying a bag at around 11:00 p.m on Friday. The officers accosted the men but the suspects on sighting officers dropped the bag and fled the scene. A check on the content of the bag revealed an AK-47. No ammunition was found in the bag.
On how they nabbed the 23-year-old robber, it was revealed that the robber who is a bus driver identified as Ayobami Adedeji, was chased by the operatives on routine patrol of Kola Bus Stop, in Alagbado Area of Lagos, after he alongside another man snatched a hand bag around 10:00 p.m.
Adedeji, in company of an accomplice, who he referred to as Aboki, had on Monday night, operating with a motorcycle, snatched the hand bag of one Kudirat Oyebade at Kola Bus Stop.
The operatives who were close to the scene of the incident chased the motorcycle into the inner streets. One of the suspects was however arrested while the rider escaped abandoning his motor cycle.
Adedeji, who snatched the bag stated: “I was a bus conductor. I went to Kotangoa market on Monday to meet Aboki about how to raise money for ourselves…. We have been together for a long time. At around 2:00 p.m. on Monday, we perfected the plan to operate together on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, but our focus were Adura and Council bus stops around Agbado areas of Lagos State. Our priorities were handbags and purses.”
“We had snatched two bags and my colleague was keeping the money before our last botched operation. This was our first time…. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t know RRS operatives were monitoring us. I snatched the bag and they chased us into the streets. My colleague escaped after abandoning his okada and I was arrested,” he continued.
He added, “I dropped out in SS1 after losing my mother. My father was just a ceremonial father. He never cared about me since the death of my mother. He never assisted me but I had to fend for myself after the death of my mother.”
The rifle has been deposited at the RRS Headquarters for further investigation while Adedeji has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti for further investigations.

Anambra Church Attack, How It All Happened, Survivor Narrate The Terrible Incident

Church worshippers in South Eastern Nigeria were left thoroughly shaken recently after a gunman stormed the building to unleash horror on them.
According to Premium Times, a witness revealed that the lone gunman entered the Saint Philips Catholic Church in Ozubulu, Anambra State, emptied his cartridge, reloaded it and continued shooting before driving away in a waiting car.
Charles Justice, who brought his wounded friends to the Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital in Nnewi, said the incident happened after the homily at 6 a.m. Mass.
“Those who died are mostly children and the elderly, I know about three children who were below five years that died in the shooting,” said Mr. Justice.
Mr. Justice said three of the victims had died at the hospital, a claim corroborated by a medical doctor who did not want to be named.
Premium Times reports that more than 16 casualties are now in stable conditions while six had undergone surgeries successfully.
At least 11 people were killed in the Sunday morning shooting, according to the police, after the shooter opened fire at a crowd of worshippers attending the morning’s Mass at the church.
The police say preliminary investigation pointed to a feud between two individuals of the same community who reside outside the country.
“One of the individuals built the church where the shooting occurred; it is definitely not a terrorist attack in the mould of Boko Haram of Fulani herdsmen attack,” said Garba Umar, the state’s police commissioner.
On Sunday, security officials cordoned off the church as blood stains and bullets littered the premises. Villagers and sympathizers stood around discussing the incident in hushed tones.
At the Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital in Nnewi were most of the victims were taken, people struggled to gain entrance through the heavily guarded gate. Over a dozen casualties lay in pools of their blood as they waited for emergency care.
Azuka Ejidike told Premium TImes he lost his father-in-law to the shooting.
Nearby, Nonso Nwakibe gave thanks to God as his mother, Antonia, lay groaning from the pains of the bullet wounds on her arm.
Ogochukwu Maduka, a Lay Reader at the church, said she had arrived for the Mass and found the church in darkness.
“After much effort to get the generator to work failed, they had resort to using candles and rechargeable lamps,” said Ms. Maduka who said she was at the front seat during the Mass.
“The holy Mass had proceeded as usual, after the first, second and gospel reading, and then the priest’s homily, as we stood up for the proclamation of faith, there was a sound of gun like thunder from behind.
“There was chaos and panic and confusion. The priest ran away as the gunshots continued and I took cover under the seat.
“When people started running around, the man began shooting upwards. Those mostly affected were those at the back of the church,” said Ms. Maduka who added that she counted about 15 corpses afterwards.
The Catholic Church has since confirmed that the priest survived the attack.
Nnagolum Oramidike, a primary three pupil, was shot in the leg.
He said he “bent down” while the shooting was going on. His mother, Chioma, who also sustained bullet wounds, said she was worried the news would devastate her husband, who had just travelled abroad to seek greener pastures, but hoped he would find out they were alive.
“The shooting started around 7 a.m. and my father in law was not so lucky,” said Mrs. Oramidike, 32, whose daughter was hit by a motorcycle amidst the chaos.
“I don’t know how to take care of my children now I’m incapacitated,” she added.
Ifeoma Onyeka sat beside her 14-year-old daughter who had just been operated upon. Her older, foster daughter, Anwurika Mboje, did not survive the incident – she had died right inside the church.
“I survived by taking shelter under the seat while the children must have started running because of lack of knowledge of what to do in such a circumstance,” she said.
