Entrepreneurs in Awka receive business grants from Life Lager Beer


Ten entrepreneurs over the weekend in Awka received business grants of N300, 000 each to grow their businesses, from Life Intercontinental Lager Beer at its Life Progress Hour. The event in the Anambra state capital brings the total number of entrepreneurs who have benefited from the Life Progress Booster in 2017 to 160.
One of the beneficiaries, Ugwu Anthony, 26, expressed his joy as his dream to own a barbing salon has become a reality. “Since I graduated in 2012, I have worked for several private companies here in Awka, but I have always wanted to own a business of my own no matter how small. I am grateful to Life Lager Beer for this grant and I hope they continue to give life to people through this initiative.”
Since the start of the year, the Life Progress Booster train has also stopped in Aba, Asaba and Nsukka where entrepreneurs received business grants in like of N300, 000 each.
Moses, 24, a textile printer in Asaba received the business grant during the Life Progress Hour show in the Delta State capital. Visibly excited, he explained how he heard about the show and decided to give it a try. “My dad heard the advert on radio and informed me. He has always supported my business even though it’s still at its humble beginnings. Receiving this grant means a lot to me and my family, especially my dad and I am grateful to the brand for helping to make my dream come to life,” he said.
Another recipient, Emeokeri Oke Rita, a cosmetologist was full of gratitude as she fell on her knees when her name was announced as a beneficiary. “My joy knows no bounds. I have been favoured through this platform and I am very happy. I have a growing business and with the funds I received, I will be able to boost my business and support others in my own little way.
The event in Awka which took place at the Coffi Premium Lounge on Sunday, October 29, 2017, reinforced the brand’s commitment to the progress of the people of the Southeast of the country. “The brand plans to support an additional forty entrepreneurs before the end of the year with the business grant”, says Emmanuel Agu, Portfolio Manager, Mainstream Lager and Stout Brands, Nigerian Breweries Plc.
Guests at the Awka event were entertained by local traditional music troupes with consolation prizes presented to those whose proposals did not make it to the final stage. Winners of a raffle draw held at the venue also received prizes.
The Life Progress Booster radio show airs on Hot 99.5 FM, Owerri every Saturday 7:30 – 8:30pm; Odenigbo 99.1 FM, Obosi every Friday 7:30 – 8:30pm; Family Love 103.9 FM, Umuahia every Saturday 7:30 – 8:30 PM and Solid 100.9 FM, Enugu every Friday 7:30 – 8:30pm.

Photos: Kenyan Governor killed in road accident on his way to an interview


The Governor of Nyeri county,  Dr. Wahome Gakuru succumbed to injuries after a tragic road accident that occurred early this morning on the Thika-Murang'a Highway.
Dr. Wahome Gakuru was scheduled to appear in an interview with Kameme TV before the accident.

He was pronounced dead at Thika Level Four Hospital,  where he had been rushed for emergency treatment alongside his driver and Personal Assistant,  who is in critical condition.

David Moyes confirmed as new West Ham United manager



David Moyes confirmed as new West Ham United manager
Scottish professional football coach, David Moyes has been confirmed as the new manager of British football club, West Ham United.
The former Everton, Manchester United and Sunderland boss was handed an initial six-month deal, that will see him lead the club until the end of the season, after replacing Slaven Bilic who was sacked on Monday.

The Croatian coach Bilic was sacked in the aftermath of 4-1 defeat by Liverpool, and after managing to win two games from 11 Premier League matches before leaving the club in the relegation zone
David Moyes is expected to resume his new duty today ahead of his first match against Watford on November 19.  
In his unveiling video on West Ham's Twitter account, Moyes said: 
'I'm really looking forward to meeting the supporters, being in the stadium with them.'I'm looking forward to seeing them getting right behind the team and my team also. We need the support, we need everyone with us. 
'It's a big job we have in hand now but I'm sure with everybody together we can get the right results between now and the end of the season.'
