Aisha Buhari meets with former first ladies (Photos)


Aisha Buhari, wife of the President Muhammadu Buhari, has hosted wives of former Nigerian heads of state at the presidential villa on June 10, Friday.

However, Patience Jonathan, the wife of the immediate past president Goodluck Jonathan, was absent at the event. At the same time Turai Yar’adua and Margaret Shonekan didn’t attend the event. Among those in attendance were Justice Fati Abubakar Abdulsalami, Hajiya Hadiza Shagari, Mrs Balewa, Mrs Aguiyi Ironsi , Hajiya Maryam Abacha, Mrs. Victoria Gowon and Mrs. Alex Ekweme.

Also present at the meeting was the wife of Senate president Toyin Saraki, wives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governors, wives of army officers and other women. Mrs. Aisha advised the women to support her where she needs help and also used the opportunity to distribute her book she wrote on improving the perfect woman.

Patience Jonathan was last time spotted with her husband when they went out on a date in New Jersey last week. Jonathan’s former special adviser shared the pictures with the caption: “There is love and life after power!” Stella Obasanjo, who was the First Lady of Nigeria from 1999, died while undergoing elective liposuction in an exclusive clinic in Spain. Maryam Babangida, who was credited with creating the position of First Lady of Nigeria, died in 2009.
