Changes: David Bowie through the years in previously unseen photographs
He was the star behind Starman. He was Ziggy Stardust. The
Thin White Duke. An iconic figure. An innovator, attitude changer and
inspiration to other artists. He was the ultimate post-modernist. A
Brixton boy who restlessly reinvented himself time and time again,
setting trends along the way and providing hours upon hours of enjoyment
to those who adored his unique musical creativity. He was David Bowie.
Perhaps the single most influential musician of the last 50 years.
His loss, at the age of 69, was felt around the world. His passing has
been mourned but his work should be celebrated and that is precisely
what the previously unpublished pictures – discovered in the Mirrorpix archives following his sudden death and collated for this special tribute magazine - are designed to do.
From
1990s concert performances in Birmingham, Newcastle and Glasgow, to
Ziggy Stardust fans and his iconic outfits during the 1970s, this
gallery is a small snapshot of the amazing new, rare and iconic imagery
of David Bowie.
Even more of these fantastic photos feature in the new Trinity Mirror Books tribute Bowie: Starman
, a special magazine which also features historic interviews with the
musical icon. It's a unique celebration of a unique life. A must for
every Bowie fan.
