Add another painful piece of evidence to the list of reasons why love is dead — Ruby Rose and her longtime fiancée Phoebe Dahl are officially parting ways.
The “Orange Is The New Black” star and the Faircloth Lane designer first announced their engagement in March 2014 and seemed nearly inseparable if you’d been following their relationship over Instagram, where they were the most adorable couple ever. But a source close to the two told E! Online that their busy work schedules and created a distance between them that couldn’t be overcome.
On the plus side it appears that the split was very amicable, as Rose and Dahl shared kind words with one another on Twitter:
@FAIRCLOTHSUPPLY remains very dear to my heart. I will forever treasure our time together. I’m a better person because of all we shared.— Ruby Rose (@RubyRose) December 15, 2015
Rose is famously genderfluid and once told Cosmopolitan that she attributes a lot of how she interprets her current identity to her relationship with Phoebe. “For a long time, I wished I’d been born a boy. I didn’t know there were options like gender neutral or gender fluid. I later realized you could be a girl and dress like a guy…. As soon as I met Phoebe, I knew. She’s everything that I would want in somebody. She’s talented, she’s funny, and she also has this charitable, giving side.”@RubyRose you have brought me to my best and I will always love you. I can't wait to see what the future brings for us.— Faircloth + Supply (@FAIRCLOTHSUPPLY) December 15, 2015
As much as it seems like the two wish each other the best and their break-up is probably for the best, it’s still such a bummer to hear about. At least we still have plenty of other celebrity couples from this year to coo over, right?
