10 Nigerian Hit Songs We Rocked To In 2015

2015 was the year for new artists. Names we never heard before, or known only to a few, blew up and became household names. We sang and danced to their songs, alongside those of other established acts. As the year draws to a close, TON takes a look at the 10 of the hit songs from 2015 that we will jamming to right into 2016.
1. Shakiti Bobo – Olamide
Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Olamide Baddo, stunned fans all over the world earlier this year with his hit single Shakiti Bobo. He didn’t just release the song but he also made it even more interesting by showing off a very unique dance step formed by him which went really viral. Shakiti Bobo was very popular at clubs, weddings, and events generally. The single, along with Melo Melo and Lagos Boys, were released was released under one week further establishing 2015 as Olamide’s year of success.
2. Godwin – Korede Bello
Mavin Records’ last born, young star and mega super star, Korede Bello earlier this year released his hit single that got the attention of a lot of people in Nigeria and around the world. The song rocked many events including the inauguration party of the then newly elected president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari.
3. Duro – Tekno
Straight outta Made Men Music , Augustine Miles Kelechi popularly known as Tekno released his single Duro about three months ago, catching the ears of many Nigerians. The song was a club banger and was used by a lot of boys and men to express themselves to the love of their lives. Duro is also popular for being played at weddings and other events.
4. Woju – Kiss Daniel
Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe popularly known as Kiss Daniel released his first official single Woju earlier this year. The song was a hit and went viral. It served as a platform for the singer to formally bring himself into the music industry. He later did a remix of the song with HKN boss, Davido, and Mavins First Lady, Tiwa Savage.
5. Lagos Boys – Olamide
YBNL boss, Olamide, has been on fire this year. He has the highest number of singles released this year, one of which is Lagos Boys. Lagos boys was released at the same time as Shakiti Bobo and currently has 1million views on Youtube.
6. Reggae Blues – Harrisong
Harrisong’s Reggae Blues featured some of the top names in music – fellow label mate Kcee, Iyanya, Olamide and Orezi. It also includes the famous line: “Skiibii o! Pop champagne o!” Reminding us of that time Five Star Music tried to play a fast one on Nigerian’s music lovers by faking the death of its upcoming artist Skiibii. The song, however, is a great mostly because of its call-and-response style and wise words like: “Even your boo has got a boo.”
7. Connect – Phyno
PentHauz Boss Phyno, who is a fluent Igbo rapper, thrilled fans with his hit single Connect, a viral jam. Phyno has never failed his fans with his music. Connect made wave all over Nigeria and is still making waves.
8. Jagaban – Ycee
Tinny Entertainment act Oludemilade Martin Alejo, popularly known as Ycee, after his song Condo with Patoranking, which won him two nominations at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards released his first official single Jagaban, further establishing himself in the Nigerian music industry. He recently collaborated with YBNL boss Olamide on the remix of the song. Jagaban was nominated for the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).
9. Ladi – Olamide and Phyno ft Lil Kesh
Ladi by Phyno and Olamide featuring is that song you either sing with your hand over your mouth or out loud just for the shock factor. With its suggestive lyrics, Ladi expresses the artists’ aversion to cunnilingus – an act they deride as “iranu!” and “abasha!”
10. Gbese – Lil Kesh
Lil Kesh, who sees nothing wrong with his dirty lyrics, released this song as a follow up to his hit single, Shoki.
