The TOWIE babe revealed that she was motivated to shed the pounds when she returned from a holiday to Egypt in January.
During the getaway she'd been photographed running along the beach and looking weightier than ever before.
The unflattering pictures turned out to be just the trigger she needed to put her on the path from a size 18 to a size 10.
Before that point Lauren confessed she was living a lifestyle where she ate 'anything she wanted' and drank 'loads'.
When asked what led to her changing her ways, she told Now Magazine: "I think it was when I first saw some horrendous pictures of me - I looked like a monster - and I was so embarrassed and thought 'Is this what I look like? Why did no one f***ing tell me?'
The unflattering picture now features on the reality star's new fitness DVD - titled Lauren's OMG Workout - which hit shelves in December.

Lauren has explained that while her transformation has delayed her having a baby, she'll continue to do the exercise regime even when pregnant.
She added: "I can't deal with this and then have a baby. The year after next, maybe, but I'll still be fit.
"One of my trainers on the DVD is heavily pregnant and she's fit anyway. Even when I am pregnant, it's a DVD you can still do, so I'll still be doing it."
During the interview, Lauren also confessed that her boyfriend Jake McLean once told her she was 'fat' but is now proud of her transformation.
Despite the brunette's budding romance, she still struggles to separate herself from ex Mark Wright .
So much so that Lauren had to shoot down suggestions her weight loss was inspired by Mark's wife Michelle Keegan during an appearance on Loose Women.
Lauren didn't look very happy with the question from panelist Nadia Sawalha and had to compose herself before answering.
"I completely get it and I can see why people would think that, but where I am in my life and [where] they are in their life, I’ve got a boyfriend I’ve had for three years, it was nothing to do with anyone else apart from me," she responded.
"There was nothing that could influence me, no one that could come to me and go ‘do this’. I did it at my time, when I was ready. Otherwise I would have done it ages ago."
